How Often Do I Need an IPL Treatment?

Because IPL is a skin treatment, you’ll want to go in for treatments regularly—ideally, once every four weeks. Our staff will recommend a plan based on your skin type, condition, and goals. It’s important to stick with your plan to achieve desired results. Just remember that you won’t see changes overnight; usually, three or four treatments are required before seeing any marked differences in your skin.

Before IPL Sessions

What steps should you take before receiving an IPL treatment? Well, first, be sure you’re taking care of your skin in other ways. You should also check with your doctor to make sure you don’t have a medical condition that would prohibit you from using an IPL light. Next, book an appointment with your aesthetician. Let them know your concerns so they can best advise you on what products or treatments will help get rid of those areas on your face or body that bother you most.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are a type of cosmetic injectable designed to restore volume to your cheeks, lips, chin, and forehead. As you get older, your skin produces less collagen and elastin, two proteins responsible for keeping your skin firm, plump, and supple.

Different types of dermal fillers treat particular areas of the face. The results that dermal fillers provide last anywhere between six months and two years. If you want to look younger, but don’t want to undergo a time-consuming or invasive cosmetic surgery, consider dermal fillers.

What Types of Issues Can Dermal Fillers Treat?

Dermal fillers are incredibly versatile. At European Wellness Cosmedical, Britta regularly prescribes dermal fillers to:

  • Plump thinning lips
  • Enhance or fill shallow areas of the face
  • Remove wrinkles around or under the eyes
  • Fill in scars
  • Soften static wrinkles

She also uses dermal fillers to improve the appearance of wrinkles around the mouth and lips caused by lost collagen and decreased elasticity.

Are There Different Types of Fillers?

At European Wellness Cosmedical, Britta offers several types of fillers, including:

Juvederm®

Juvederm is a family of fillers that uses hyaluronic acid (HA) to correct wrinkles and folds, especially those around the nose, mouth, and chin. Juvederm augments facial features by smoothing your skin and adding plumpness. It’s made with a highly purified form of HA that works similarly to naturally occurring hyaluronic acid in your body. This filler is injected into the skin to produce results that can last. It has become an incredibly popular procedure among patients who want long-lasting effects without surgery. There are two types of Juvederm: Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus, each providing natural-looking, smooth results. These dermal fillers also stimulate collagen production for optimal, long-lasting results. They typically have no downtime and very little discomfort. You may experience slight swelling or redness immediately after treatment, but these subside quickly. Once they wear off completely, you should see a noticeable improvement in facial contours. With continued treatments, you could expect more dramatic results over time as well as other potential benefits such as improved hydration levels and healthier-looking skin!

Restylane®

Restylane also uses hyaluronic acid to add volume and fullness to your skin. It improves the appearance of the nasolabial folds and, in some cases, to plump up thinning or wrinkled lips. It’s not intended for treating deep folds and wrinkles, though. And it can be used to enhance other parts of your face, like your hands or forehead. If you want younger-looking skin with a more even appearance, Restylane is a good choice. Some people choose just to use it in specific areas they want to be enhanced. It can be used to smooth out nasolabial folds, enhancing your appearance and making you look younger. It’s also effective at boosting your lips if they’re beginning to lose volume or show signs of aging. If you want more youthful-looking skin with a smoother texture, it’s worth considering Restylane treatment.

Sculptra®

Sculptra is a dermal filler that uses poly-L-lactic acid to stimulate your skin’s natural collagen production. It works slowly over an extended period, providing long-term, natural-looking results. Sculptra is rejuvenating, collagen inducing, and provides youthful results that can last for up to two years at a time. This is a very popular type of dermal filler and can be used to restore lost volume and create an even appearance over time. It provides natural results that are considered more stable than hyaluronic acid injections. It has been shown to last longer in terms of efficacy and stability. This means you’ll get more bang for your buck compared to other options on offer. In addition, due to its slow-release properties, patients don’t need additional treatments beyond what they receive during their initial procedure.

Which type of filler treatment is right for me?

Only a qualified aesthetics professional like Britta can determine the type of filler treatment that will most benefit you. Following a physical exam of your skin and facial features, a review of your medical history, and a discussion of your goals for treatment, she develops a custom care plan that aligns with your needs. Once you’ve chosen to treat your facial wrinkles and folds, the aesthetics professional will determine what type of filler is right for you. There are several choices for those who want to regain smoothness and contour in their faces, and each option has its unique benefits. Dermal fillers fall into three categories: skin-rejuvenating fillers, volumizing fillers, or wrinkle-reducing injectables.

To maintain long-lasting results,  you’ll need to invest in regular checkups. You’ll know it’s time to schedule another appointment when wrinkles and fine lines appear on the surface of your face.
