Parentheses Have a Place (but not on your face!)
Over time, the volume of our skin begins to decrease as wrinkles, folds and fine lines form. Some of us even begin to see these signs earlier in life, which makes us look older than we are.
Fortunately, we no longer have to sit back and let these signs of aging take over our once youthful appearance. Juvederm™ is a smooth consistency gel of hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps add volume and hydration.
Benefits of Juvederm
As one of the most popular FDA-approved dermal fillers, Juvederm has been proven to help:
- Reduce smile lines or “parentheses”
- Reduce creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth
- Reduce forehead wrinkles
- Improve the natural shape and contour for your lips, creating the perfect “pout”
- Juvederm Voluma instantly adds volume to the cheek area, contours and lifts. Results last up to two years!
- Juvederm Volbella XC results show that the product improves lip fullness and smooths the appearance of lines around the mouth.
This treatment works by easing the gel under the skin to instantly restore your skin’s volume and helps smooth away facial wrinkles and folds.
The results will leave you with naturally smoother, younger looking skin immediately following your treatment.

WHAT IS JUVÉDERM?
Juvéderm is a facial filler that plumps up skin to get rid of wrinkles. It also plumps up lips. Specifically, “Juvéderm is a non-animal, cross-linked, hyaluronic-acid-based filler that works by restoring volume to the face,” Dr. Russell says. “It literally is used to fill [the face] folds and creases.” Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in your body. It adds lubrication to joints and a cushion-like effect to the skin and tissues.
HOW DOES JUVÉDERM WORK?
It replicates hyaluronic acid, and by being injected into the skin, Juvéderm temporarily restores the skin’s support structure and smooths out wrinkles. It works best to treat wrinkles and lines of the resting face.
HOW MUCH JUVÉDERM DO I NEED?
Patients typically need between one and two syringes of Juvéderm for one area, but may need three or four. How much you need depends on various factors, including age, depth of wrinkles, your end goal, etc. Your specialist can tell you how many syringes you’ll need to achieve a good result during your consultation.
HOW IS JUVÉDERM DIFFERENT FROM OTHER INJECTABLES?
Different injectables treat different signs of aging.
Some lines and creases are noticeable when we’re sitting still, perhaps reading a book or watching TV. Others become apparent when the face is in motion—when we’re talking and laughing. This distinction has given rise to two types of injectables: For wrinkles when face is at rest: Dermal fillers like Juvéderm. For wrinkles when face is in motion: Neuromodulators, such as Botox and Dysport
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF JUVÉDERM?
Common side effects include:
- Swelling and tenderness
- Bumps and bruising at the injection sites
- Dryness (particularly with Volbella)
One of the more serious risks is unintentional injection into a blood vessel. Though it is rare, the complications can be serious and may be permanent. These complications, which have been reported for facial injections, can include vision abnormalities, blindness, stroke, temporary scabs, or permanent scarring.
